In 2015, the new Dutch owners Ester Kalis and Jan van der Steenhoven renovated the Lancelot in its entirety. They fell in love with this beautiful region in 2001. When the previous owner decided to stop activities in 2013, they could not wait to follow their dream to turn this into a unique B&B. They hired a local architect to totally restore this property to a very high standard while at the same time maintaining its authenticity.
Though the Gites Le Lancelot and the rooms are equipped with all modern conveniences, they have not lost their old charm. The old stones and wooden floors and beams give the rooms their warm authentic atmosphere. The original townscape of Ambierle has been preserved because the front of the building has remained intact, and the property is beautifully in synch with the other historical buildings in the area, like the old abbey.
As of June 2020 Virginie Cottin manages the Café/Restaurant Auberge le Lancelot and is your warm and welcoming host during your stay in Gites le Lancelot.
